## Transcript

For the fifth night in a row, protests continued in Berkeley, California. Similar to Saturday night's protest, a rally against excessive use of force by police, started on the University of California- Berkeley's campus. As the protests progressed, it turned violent. Protesters began smashing store windows and. In Berkeley. Others are setting fires in the streets. As many as 500 people marched through Berkeley's downtown streets. They blocked traffic at several intersections and chanted, fist up, fight back. NBC quotes the Berkeley PD's Public Information Officer who says, one protestor who tried to stop the increasing vandalism was then hit with a hammer.

The California Highway Patrol tweeted out updates from the protest, showing the broken windows from patrol vehicles and pieces of concrete that were allegedly thrown at officers. These protests come just days after a grand jury decided not to indict the police officer who killed Eric Garner. And less than a month after a grand jury in Ferguson decided not to indict Darren Wilson. The officer who killed Michael Brown. Since those decisions were announced, more and more protests sprung up around the nation, from so- called die- ins at sporting events. Thousands of fans left last night's Eagles game.

The demonstrators staged a die- in. To blocking major highways in New York City. Essentially shutting down one of the largest, highways that goes around, the island of Manhattan. According to the San Fransisco Chronicle, at least eight people were arrested in Berkeley during the protests, Sunday.
