[ MUSIC ] If you're looking at that monthly income and it's not going to be aspirational. And you realize that you're really going to have to cut back, that's not the end of the world. The first thing I would suggest people do, is figure out what from the aspirational retirement they want. The example I like to give is a lot of people like to think about traveling Travelling the world in retirements. But when you travel the world, it's not al the same thing that you want. What is it that you're looking forward to? So for some people, it might be the food. For some people it might be meeting new people, learning new languages.

Well you can figure out ways that you can get those things while still living at home. If you are very interested in tasting the local cuisine all overt he world, you can take cooking classes right at home. if you are interested in meeting new people and learning. Learn language. You could host students from abroad, could live in your home and you could meet people and experience another culture that way. So if you focus on what it is that you value from your dream retirements rather than the dream itself, then you can find a way to get it, even if you don't have the money for the dream. [ INAUDIBLE ] You should start living on your retirement budget before you retire.

Get used to the reduced finances. Not only will that help you save a little bit more money and stretch it. It will also help you not feel overwhelmed when you do get to the point where you're living on less. Take really good care of your health. Even with Medicare you can expect to spend almost a quarter of a million dollars just on healthcare. So the best way to handle that is to take good care of yourself. Exercise, eat well, that's something that you wanna focus on and make sure that you prioritize. In the years before you retire especially if you have not necessarily done that all your life.
