## Transcript

Wal Mart, Wal Mart you can't hide! We can see your greedy side! The nation's biggest company, and one of the most scrutinized regarding worker wages, is now giving a raise to nearly 40 percent of it's employees. Wal Mart announced Thursday it will be giving raises to about 500 thousand of it's 1. 3 million U. S. employees. Bumping starting pay to at least nine dollars an hour starting in April. and promising current employees $ 10 an hour for next year. It's clear to me that one of the highest priorities today must be an investment in you, our associates. $ 9 an hour would put employees at least $ 1.

75 above the federal minimum wage, and $ 10 an hour would be a big step toward President Obama's goal of raising the federal minimum wage to $ 10. 10 an hour. Say yes. Give America a raise. [ APPLAUSE ] But will Walmart's pay bump be enough? Employees have said they're dependent on food stamps to get by, food stamps they sometimes spend at Walmart. A $ 9 an hour salary still only translates to about $ 18, 720 a year. Above the 2015 federal poverty line for a household of two, but below the federal line for a house of three. So a single parent with two or more kids, you're out of luck. Protests around the nation have rationed it up the past couple of years with Walmart workers demanding pay raises as high as $ 15 an hour.

Analysts disagree over whether that's realistic. Those are the greatest people in the world that work at Walmart. I'd like them to be paid more but I don't want them to lose their jobs. And these morons want to, make people lose jobs. Let's get them out of the way. Walmart's overall total revenue jumped about 1. 7 % last fiscal quarter due in part to strong U. S. Winter Holiday sales. The retail giant also announced Thursday it will implement new educational programs to better train employees to move up within the company.
