On this, Lviv to the west, where they also occupied the buildings of the regional administration. >> Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovych called for a second round of talks, Thursday with opposition leaders, including former World Boxing Champion, Vitali Klitschko to quell the violence. The proposed compromise between the two parties included the release of about 100 detained protesters and an agreement on both sides not to attack each other. But the Los Angeles Times reports, the negotiations were fruitless as protesters in Kiev rejected the compromise between their leaders and the Ukrainian government, though both parties agreed to keep talking. According to CNN, Klitschko addressed demonstrators saying, Yanukovych and his cabinet refused to resign and start early elections, two of their main demands. There was similar dissatisfaction from the other side, as the President's press office said, opposition leaders refused to condemn extremist actions. Violence picked up this week after at least 2 protesters were found dead from gunshot wounds. The New York Times says, some in the area have even reported demonstrators being kidnapped by police and taken to undisclosed locations. The deaths came after a protest ban went in to effect this week. They marked the beginning of widespread violence and chaos after nearly 2 months of peaceful protests. The spreading demonstrations in Ukraine have also gotten the attention of the international community. European Union Justice Chief, Viviane Reding, foreshadowed a grim consequence to the political skirmish. >> I am very worried about what is happening in Ukraine in this moment because that goes in direction of a civil war, the worst thing which can happen to a country. >> EU officials are expected to arrive in Kiev, Friday and sometime next week to meet up with Yanukovych and help Ukraine broke her a peace deal. Meanwhile, Yanukovych has recalled law makers from winter break for an emergency session. Business Week cites the opposition who said, parliament will meet on January 28th to consider the repeal of anti- protest laws.
