## Transcript

At least one person is dead after a hot air balloon caught fire and crashed during a balloon festival Friday evening in Virginia. And the fact that we've not been able to make any contact with any of the three occupants that were in the hot air balloon. We are transitioning from a rescue operation to a recovery operation. I saw that happen and that's when I dropped everything and ran. Because I figured I needed to get to a phone as quickly as possible. WWBT reports authorities found the remains of one person who they believe was on the balloon when it caught fire. A police spokeswoman says the remains have been sent to the medical examiner.

Police say the balloon caught fire after it hit a power line as it was getting ready to land. And the process witnesses say they saw two people jump from the balloon as it was burning. Afterwards, CNN notes witnesses say they heard two explosions, then the basket broke apart from the balloon. Authorities are still searching for the two other people who were on the balloon, as well as for the basket and balloon itself. The balloons were in the air as part of the mid Atlantic balloon festival, which was scheduled to last until Sunday. The Richmond Times- Dispatch reports organizers have cancelled the remainder of the festival, in the wake of Friday's accident.
