title: The Most Memorable Moments of the 2026 Golden Globes | TIME
description: The 83rd annual Golden Globes took place Sunday night, kicking off the 2026 awards season in earnest. While comedian Nikki Glaser returned after a successful first year hosting, this year the Globes shook things up a bit. Not only did the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) announce their picks for the best in television and film, but they added podcasting to the mix, acknowledging the major growth of that medium. They also handed out two big awards the night before the big show in a separate ceremony. During a new annual primetime special aptly named "Golden Eve," the HFPA honored Helen Mirren and Sarah Jessica Parker, with the Cecil B. DeMille and Carol Burnett awards, respectively.

## Transcript

You guys are being so generous with this affection for for me and this film. And I'll take it. I'll take it with the love that it's given and the appreciation. Um, I love, I love doing what I do, so this is just fun. We shoot our show in these long, continuous takes. And part of the reason I wanted to do that is it doesn't work unless the whole crew really comes together to make it work. And so I really want to thank our crew, most of whom don't get invited to this. Um, but they should, and. I don't know how to say all my gratitude for 54 years in 60s. I'm indebted to so many people. I've been inspired by so many people, uh, many of whom I've got the great honor of being nominated with this evening.

So a shout out to my fellow nominees. This is. This is exactly how I pictured it. Snoop giving me the award. Thank you so much. Wow. I wow. Um, I don't know about award shows, but when they get it right, it makes sense. Um. When I was a little girl, I worked tirelessly for ten years to fulfill one dream to become a K-pop idol. And I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn't good enough. And so I leaned on songs and music to get through it. So now I'm here as a singer and a songwriter. If you would've told me when I was 19 years old, I'd be thinking, Mr. Wonderful from Shark Tank. Ah, you're laughing.

So I got away with that. Thank you. Kevin. I would have been stunned, but I've been very grateful. My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up. Uh, always be grateful for what you have. It's allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty handed. My head held high, grateful just to be here. But I'd be lying if I didn't say those moments didn't make this moment that much sweeter. For my parents, for my partner, I love you. Thank you so much.
