[ BLANK_AUDIO ] Okay. Let's get this FAFSA done. Actually. You scared me. You can't fill out a FAFSA until you get a Federal student aid ID number. [ SOUND ] So, let's get started with the ID number first. We start by going to the Department of Education's website, FAFSA. gov. Don't click on that button THat's the button you need for the FSA ID. They couldn't make this obvious enough. Make sure that the email address that you put in is one that you're gonna have access to over the next four years. So don't use your K- 12 address. Also, you and your parents can't share an email address for faster purposes.

Wait, I shouldn't be sharing an email with my parents? Now it's time to pick a username. Obviously you wanna pick a username that you'll remember for the next several years. Wait, is there seriously an option for someone who's under 12? Why would someone who's under 12 be applying for college? I know, he'd have to be a genius. Now we move on to the second screen. Don't rely on your memory for your Social Security number. We'll have to type it in exactly as it appears on your card and the same with your name. If you get that wrong, it can really slow down your application. If you're not a citizen but you have a green card, this is where you put in your alien registration number.

Now Here comes the fun part .

>> I'm getting it .

>> For the first two you obviously picked from their list and you wanna choose answers you will remember over the next several years. [ MUSIC ] Now for the next two you have to pick questions and answers that you're gonna remember and the people who know you on. Social media might not easily guess. The next question can be kind of tricky, because it asks you for an important date in your life that's not your birthday. And the problem is, students are young, and they don't have a lot of important dates in their life. Male: So maybe I should pick something like my mothers birthday. Female: That's perfect.

Male: Alright. Female: You're almost done. Read over to make sure you didn't make any mistakes. Click continue and they're going to send you a verification email. So you'll need to click on that when you get it. [ BLANK_AUDIO ] Congratulations, you have a provisional FSA ID, and you can start your FAFSA now. That wasn't so bad. Thanks FAFSA fairy! [ SOUND ]
