## Transcript

Here to perform the Oscar- nominated, gorgeously empowering song Let it Go. It was the gaffe heard around the world, or at least by the 43 million people watching the Oscars here in the United States, but many m -, tens of millions of more around the world. John Travolta on stage, big introduction of one of the night's big winners. Please welcome the wickedly talented, one and only Adele Dazeen. By butchering the name of the Broadway star, Idina Menzel, Travolta got a ton of attention. She went on to win the Oscar for the song, Let it Go, from Frozen. Travolta's error did not go unnoticed. In the old days, he would have been maybe in the 18th paragraph of a story about the Oscars.

Instead. Twitter accounts, websites, all sorts of things mocking Travolta for his inexplicable error including mocked by the king of all mockers David Letterman. Top 10 ways to mispronouce Idina Menzel. Here we go number 10 heh Idrizzle Menzezzle number 9 Liza Menzeli the Idling Mazda number 2 Insalata Mista And the number 1 way to mispronounce Idina Menzel is Travolta means well, there you go. Travolta's now belatedly trying to salvage the situation, he's put out a statement saying that he's been beating himself up over his error since Sunday's show, he's apologized to Menzel and praised her for her big Oscar victory.

She's being a good sport. She's accepted his apology, and her Broadway show printed up phony playbills from her show, making fun of her name and the name of some of the shows she's been in in the past. So she's all good. But Travolta's now stuck with his gaffe. The lesson for him and for everybody, if you're on live TV, don't make a mistake.
