For Iran and neighboring countries. Canada's position on the developments in the Middle East remains clear. The Islamic Republic of Iran is the principal source of instability and terror throughout the Middle East. It has one of the world's worst human rights records and must never be allowed to obtain or develop nuclear weapons. Mr. speaker, the United Kingdom was not involved in the initial strikes on Iran by the US and Israel. That decision was deliberate. We believe that the best way forward for the region and for the world is a negotiated settlement in which Iran agrees to give up any aspirations to develop a nuclear weapon and cease its destabilising activity across the region.

I want. Diplomacy. Or. What? We strongly condemn the war being waged on Iran. While negotiations were underway, we have reaffirmed our support for sovereignty and territorial integrity of our brotherly nation. I join all Pakistanis to condoling the martyrdom of Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. May Allah grant him highest place in general. My hope, as I just said, is that we will be back at the negotiating table, uh, sooner rather than later. It is obvious that, uh, after this military conflict ends, and we all hope that this will be very, very soon. Uh, we will still need to have a long, uh, durable, uh, solution which will provide a sense of predictability, a sense of certainty, uh, for Iran and neighboring countries.
