[ MUSIC ] This is why I will call an extraordinary congress and dispose of my function. In a stunning announcement Tuesday afternoon, FIFA president Sepp Blatter resigned from his position amid the corruption scandal that has rocked soccer's governing body. Blatter was just reelected president on May 29 days after the US Justice department indicted 14 FIFA officials and business partners on corruption charges but citing a need for quote, " Structural change of profound nature the 79 year old stepped down from his post. It's a position he held since 1998. Blatter said in an election to name is successor will take place as soon as possible.

FIFA needs a profound restructuring. This is why I will call in extraordinary congress and put a disposal of my function It is going to be held as soon as possible, and a new president will be elected to follow me.
