The idea that he has been exposed to materials on and taken a course that covered how to be a good witness. And this is all, again, a course work intertwined with the over- evidence of his ambition and his activity, and that there's anything wrong with that ambition, but it certainly goes to the defendant's state of mind. He has applied to be a police officer before. He still wants to be one, according to some of his homework assignments. >> Did you discuss specifically self- defense and stand- your- ground laws in the connection of violent crimes such as murder? >> Yes. >> Professor Carter, what can you tell us about how long you spent as part of that course, covering ideas like self defense and stay- your- ground?- Right. You know self- defense is an affirmative defense. It's a big self- defense. It's not one of those things that you're going to just whisk through in a day or you're-- after you teach it, you're gonna neglect from bringing it back into the classroom. So, it was something that I constantly iterated. >> When you conducted a distance test with the Kel Tec pistol and the hooded sweatshirt, what did you determine about the distance between those-- the muscle of the gun and the material at the time the gun was discharged? >> The clothing displayed residues and physical effects consistent with a contact shot. >> Meaning the muscle of the end of the bell of the gun was up against the sweatshirt when it was fired? >> Correct. >> I'm prepared to go as long today if we need to to get the state to rest their case so we can move on with the case. >> Yeah.
