## Transcript

CES, what is it? Even if you don't follow technology news religiously, you're gonna see a little bit of coverage of CES over the next week or so. Trickle it to the mainstream press. I'll tell you all about CES. Let's go! CES stands for the Consumer Electronic Show. It is an industry- only event that takes place in early January every year in Las Vegas. Last year the event drew about a 125, 000 attendees. These are members of the press, analysts, exhibitors, all sorts of people inside the industry. And it almost, always happens to coincide with the Adult Entertainment Expo which drew about 30, 000 attendees last year.

So for one week in early January, Las Vegas is literally overrun with nerds and porn stars-- only in Vegas. And I guess, possibly in Amsterdam. Some of us from Techland will be there covering the show but I can tell you before we get there what to expect as far as general coverage is concerned: tablets, tablets, tablets, tablets, tablets. Apple has sold a squillion iPads uncontested for most of last year. And now every company that makes consumer electronics devices wants in on the tablet craze until everyone's gonna have a tablet, all shapes and sizes, all operating systems. Everyone's gonna have a tablet.

We'll also see a lot about connected TVs, we'll see a lot about these new 4G networks that are rolling out. They have wireless speed that rivals that that of home broadband speeds, so plenty of 4G coverage. And oh, did I mention tablets? There's gonna be tablets everywhere. I should also mention that the Verizon CEO will be giving a keynote address to open the show on Thursday. And let's let some people to speculate about whether or not they'll announce the Verizon iPhone. I say no, unless Steve Jobs is there for some reason. They're not gonna announce it without Steve Jobs. So keep that in mind.

No Verizon iPhone at CES. There's no Apple stuff at CES, it's not an Apple event. No, oh no Verizon iPhone. They announce it without Steve Jobs, he's gonna be angry. I would be.
