That's according to a report from nonprofit automotive service provider, triple A. On June first, the national average gas price sat at two dollars, 75 cents, down 92 cents. From last year. Now this $ 2. 75 average is actually about 71 cents higher than it was earlier this year but prices are expected to drop due to stabilizing crude oil costs and as refineries complete seasonal maintenance. Over the past 5 years gas prices fell about 12 cents a gallon in June. This all sounds like great news but there's a dose of bad news too. Especially if you live in California. The state is already paying upwards of three dollars a gallon for gas, and triple A says, that price likely won't drop. February's ExxonMobil explosion in Torrance, California complicated an already complex west coast refinery problem, and a decrease in pricing in most of the U. S. means an increase in drivers In potentially fatal accidents. One South Dakota State University sociologist estimated a $ 2 decrease per gallon in gas could result in 9, 000 more traffic deaths per year because people are likely using their cars more often. When the gasoline price is not that high, I go to office. I go home. I go shopping. I go home. With the gasoline price so high, I try to go all the things together, just do it in one trip. Now the ironic thing David is that if you really wanna get people to slow down, you don't scare them about losing their lives. You scare them by telling them they're going to spend more money at the pump. And that's what gets them to slow down. Of course, those cheaper gas prices aren't a guarantee, either.
