## Transcript

[ MUSIC ] I think that our minds are extremely powerful. And if we can control the negativity in our minds there's a lot of positivity that can come out of us. I'm Nick Walenda and I'm a 7th generation funambulists. Funambulist is a fancy word for saying tight rope walker. I started training on a wire before I was born my mom was six months pregnant with me and still walking the wire so in theory I've been walking the wire longer then I've been alive. But my wire walking career really didn't start til I was about 13, and then have been performing ever since. Currently have nine Guinness World Records, I've been the first one in the world to walk over Niagara Falls, the first person in the world to walk over the Grand Canyon, recently broke another world record walking a wire over 500 feet above the streets.

Of Chicago blindfolded I've done many many awesome things I've been able to fulfill a lot of dreams. When I'm on the wire its its actually a very emotional time often I am of course very focused on what I'm doing but it can become very very relaxing believe it or not the walking part comes somewhat natural its the things like the 52 mile and hour gust of wind that I got hit with while I was walking across the grand canyon It's the birds flying over. It's the bee stings that happen while we, we, I've been on the wire. It's those things that become very, very distracting. But for the most part when I'm walking a wire it's very peaceful.

I feel like I'm sort of walking on clouds. [ MUSIC ] I would say the greatest advice I've ever been given is to never give up. To continue to pursue your dream. Dreams, your passions, no matter what gets in the way. If I were to be that person that would give up, I would never gotten permission to walk across Niagara Falls. I had to change two laws in two countries that were over a 100 years old just to get permission to do that walk. It took about two years, by the time I started the process til I was able to actually complete that walk. Through that process of changing those laws, there were many times where I had doors closed in my face, where people said no.

But I didn't give up. Even though there were many times through that process where I definitely wanted to give up. At this point, my life is more about inspiring In others than in entertaining others. I hope to inspire others to do greater things. To step out of their comfort zones and to push themselves to be better at whatever they're doing. And fulfill their dreams or pursue their dreams. [ MUSIC ]
