## Transcript

Tesla's earning report is up today and this is what you're going to want to look out for if you want to know whether the electric car company is fully charged or falling flat. First step, deliveries. These aren't sales mind you. Tesla doesn't report monthly sales, but instead gives it's investors numbers. On deliveries. The goal for 2014 was 33, 000, down 2000 from an earlier estimate of 35, 000. The key thing to watch out for in the earnings report is how close they get to that estimate. MLV and Companies Carter Driscoll tells Fortune as long as they come in around 32, 000. Tesla's stock should be fine.

Still that may be quite the hurdle, after its third quarter report Tesla had delivered about 22, 000 model S cars in total. That means in order to hit its 2014 delivery estimate, it'll have to deliver about 11, 000 cars next fourth quarter alone. A 30 % more than last quarter. Except China, last month Telsa CEO Elon Musk revealed sales were slow in China [ MUSIC ] He cited a misconception in the country that it's difficult to charge the cars. Something he said needed better communication. Wednesday's earning report will be a good window into whether they did a good job fixing that communication breakdown or not.

Another item to keep an eye out for is production. Tesla estimates it produced around 35, 000 vehicles in 2014. This number is a little more sensitive than the delivery number. That's because if they over produce models that may mean there was a problem selling cars. If they under produce that could signal there was an issue with production. Instead. Finally, as with most earning reports in tech, there are Tesla's future investments. You'll want to keep an eye out for any updates on the Gigafactory Musk and Nevada governor Brian Sandoval announced in September. Also keep an eye on any information regarding Tesla's Model X.

Due for deliveries starting in quarter three of 2015. Tesla's earning call is due out at 4: 30 pm Pacific time and will be available through webcast in a downloadable report at a later time.
