## Transcript

Hi I'm Doug Aamoth Time dot come technology editor, and this is what happened in tech this week. Hacking group Anonymous promised to kill facebook on November 5th until actual members of the actual hacking group Anonymous. promised that they didn't make the initial promises. And there in lies the problem with anonymous hacking groups. No name tags, no central PR machine, no way to really tell who is and who isn't part of the groups. So, it appears that Facebook is safe until at least December 21st, 2012, which we all know when the Mayan calendar ends, which automatically means we're all dead, right.

Whatever happens, I've taken the liberty of putting together a dramatic representation of what life without Facebook would be like. Man I'm really getting a lot of work done. Ooh. Chilling, isn't it? In other news, Apple passed Exxon this week as the most valuable company in the U. S. Steve Jobs and friends briefly passed Exxon on Tuesday, and then managed to close out the market on Wednesday, ahead of Exxon for good. And that is how you measure financial success. Which company can end the day as the most valuable? It doesn't matter what happens during the rest of the day, you just want to be on top when all the little numbers stop moving at 4: 00.

And speaking of Apple, the long wait for the iPhone 5 is basically over now that the HiPhone 5 has been released in China. Available in 100s of combinations of colors Features and price points all at well under $ 100. The HiPhone, will make the perfect holiday gift for anyone who wants to look like they own an iPhone while enjoying the features of a $ 30 pile of crap. Don't believe me? Check out this costumer review from one of the sites selling the HiPhone. Very good baby. I like the boss who is also very good, patient for me to answer, future will be to patronize. Well, I'm convinced. And finally, the California Department of Corrections Rehabilitation has announced that it is working with Facebook to shut down inmate profiles found to be active during their incarceration.

That sounds fair. The department also mentioned that it confiscated a total of 261 internet connected gadgets in 2006, while in the first half of this year alone It confiscated over 7000 of them. We at Techland of course expect that number to grow exponentially in the second half of the year now that the HiPhone has been released. I'm Doug Aamoth. Those are your tech stories from this week. Check out those and much, much, much more on Techland.
