## Transcript

Oh, thank you Dan. I, I have to say, I am humbled. As well as honored to be here tonight to be in the company of these other much, much, much more worthy honorees as well as the 99 other of 100. For most of my career. I've been a Storyteller and it seems that my career has been a story consisting of a series of chapters Each chapter has been a dream. This come true for me, including being here with you all tonight. As these Choppers have unfolded, I've discovered some guiding principles that have helped me, keep moving forward and I thought I would share a few of them with you tonight. First of all, for some inexplicable reason, I've always had this drive and ambition to exceed expectations.

when I exceeded the expectations of my bosses and colleagues, It led to Greater opportunities. Exceeding, the expectations of audiences for the movies, led to Untold success exceeding. The expectations of friends, led to incredible friendships. Exceeding, the expectations of my wife has led to 48, wonderful years. No exceeding. Her expectations is becoming really, really hard. These two simple words. Exceed expectations have been and continue to be a brightly shining Northstar for me. Next, I could start, I discovered early in my career that putting aside my family. The most beautiful thing in the world to me is laughter.

And in particular, the laughter of children, So for the 30 years I work in animation, nothing made me happier than to stand in the back of the theater, playing one of our films and hear the beautiful laughter of children. The third principle, I learned a actually from one of the all-time greatest movie stars Kirk. Douglas, who said to me, 12 words That I have never forgotten and have changed my life. He said, you have not learned how to live until you have learned how to give He gave me the gift of the most valuable thing that I could have. This philosophy was driven and has continued to drive my philanthropy and as Kurt understood so, well, it is enriched my life beyond measure.

As I continue to page through the chapters of my life. There's one other principal. It's never far from my mind. It was taught to me by someone. I got to know actually very well, although I never actually met him and that was Walt Disney and Walt Disney said There's no such thing as a great story without a great ending. And so I'm happy to say tonight, I'm still in quest, I'm in the quest of my great ending and this award will help inspire me to keep pursuing it. Thank you very much.
