The Red Cross Society of China's resources are now wearing thin, says needs much more. But that could all become a problem because of revelations in recent years about possible corruption as time Time reports the 2011 scandal of one woman, Guo Meimei has left the organization damaged and scrambling to regain trust. Guo claimed to be a general manager for the Chinese Red Cross and repeatedly bragged about here lavish life style on social media. Posting photos of herself with a Maserati car and expensive handbags. Many wondered if Red Cross donations were funding that lifestyle. The Red Cross says it has never had any ties with Guo, but the incident caused many Chinese citizens to lose trust in the organization and question how a organizations in general use their money. The Guo scandal also renewed questions on the whereabouts of some misappropriated donations. Amounting to billions of yuon from an earlier earthquake in 2008. And just last week, the man who used to be China's third most powerful figure, Zhou Yongkang, was charged with corruption. Seen here on the bottom row, second from the right, the government alleges Zhou used his influence to gain his family extraordinary wealth. The Red Cross has attempted to move public opinion away from rumors related to Goa, urging people to focus on relief efforts of Sunday's earthquake.
