[ MUSIC ] I'm in New York City, and I'm asking people, " What kind of awkward conversations have you had with family members about money ?" Just trying to tell them how to You know, do smart things with their money, and they don't really take your advice. When you kind of have family members that are wanting to keep up with the Jones' as it were. And they want to know how much things cost, or how much you spent on things, and if, I don't know, maybe if you can help them out, those types of things. Twenty years ago or so, my now husband, then boyfriend and me, we wanted to buy a boat. Sailing boat.

And we didn't have the money to do so so we wanted to get a loan for that. And my parents- in- law were totally disagreeing with us. I think every single time I talk to my parents asking them for money. I've never had anything that bad happen to me but- Whenever I ring them up, I think you know what it's for. Well, just trying to teach my son the value of money. That it's very important to keep a good credit rating when you're young. Start off young. Keep building upon your initial investments. Keep building on your checking, savings. Credit card, keep the credit card debt down, the student loan down.

Did you buy the boat? Yeah, we did. [ LAUGH ] Yeah, and the relationship, everything is good, so no harm done. [ LAUGH ] [ MUSIC ]
