## Transcript

[ MUSIC ] Every drop of beer that comes through here, I'm actually the one that's brewing it. Not every Master Brewer's able to do that. My name's Kenny Thacker, I operate a brewery in Culpeper, Virginia. I work in construction. I did that for 25 years, then the housing market bubble burst. And I was unemployed for two years. So a home- brew shop came up for sale and I just fell in love with the idea of brewing beer from a Drew Carey show making buzz beer. I just went for it. I think the initial investment was $ 25, 000. It's not a lot to start a brewery, but my background The construction allowed me to go in and actually do the infrastructure myself.

I went a little over four years without getting a paycheck and we lived off my wife's salary and had to pull from her 401k to make things work. I'm sure it's probably taken a toll on my family life. There were several times that I wanted to Myself, just because I wasn't sure if I was gonna be able to make it work. Bottom's up. Beer Hound, they're always in search of the perfect pint. So I was like, that kind of fits. Currently, we have ten different beers on tap. I have 20 different recipes that I rotate through. Mutt, which is our IPA, that one is a recipe where I had a bunch of ingredients left over, and I just kind of threw them together.

One of the best things for me is when someone tastes my beer, and they say they love it. That's one of the things that I really enjoy about making beer. Do a lot of research, make sure you have a viable business model. Cause a business plan is really gonna tell you wether you are crazy or not. Having the partners allows us to have the right people in the right place, from the marketing standpoint, which is Frank. From the capital end, which is Rick, and then from the product itself, is me. Having that partnership really helps us move forward and focus on our one job Here at the Beer Hound Brewery, which is making good beer and selling good beer.
