## Transcript

>> Welcome to Episode 10, 11 of the Techland Show?

>> Episode X.

>> Episode X.

>> X equals 10 or 11.

>> I'll just leave that part point man. I'm Lev Grossman. Are we talking about camera? I'm gonna talk but you can talk alone.

>> I'm Peter Ha.

>> I'm Lev Grossman.

>> Lev is back.

>> Yeah, I went away and now I'm back.

>> How was it?

>> It was good. I was [ unk ].

>> Yeah.

>> And I wrote about the article. That was good.

>> Really?

>> Yeah.

>> In two weeks?

>> Yeah.

>> it's really impressive. Can you tell us what you're writing about?

>> It was called the Magician King, it was a sequel to this book in addition that was last year and it's due in October, probably it will come out next fall.

>> Have you tried that? Have you've been buzzed?

>> It's the new Google way.

>> Yeah, it is actually.

>> I mean, you know, I opted in and--

>> And nearly it was-- I got a lot of really [ unk ] information about people who have no idea who they were and then I followed them all and they're pretty much-- it brings up the present day. How about you?

>> It sort of an invasion of privacy because now you can see all of their Gmail, like other people can see your Gmail contacts. It's-- it was funny to see on the first day on my Nexus One in Google Maps to see all these different buzzes across Manhattan.

>> Yeah.

>> Like it was really just strange to see all these people that I didn't know and then certain people I did know.

>> Yeah.

>> 'Cause I would just rain them like click on little buzz bubbles on the maps.

>> Yeah.

>> And see what they're doing whether [ unk ] them like, " God, this is really creepy ." Well, it's a typically Google production. I mean it's incredibly powerful feature- wise and just totally toned app in terms of like the actual social interaction and [ unk ].

>> You know, how I know you're a big deal? You got to sit down with Steve Jobs last week.

>> Yeah, I did.

>> All right. I heard [ unk ] doesn't it?

>> Yeah. You know, he came to TIME and it did sort of like off- the- record chat and he walked us through the [ unk ].

>> And this is the first time you've seen him in person.

>> Yeah.

>> What did you think of that?

>> I was surprised by-- well, it was lovely. It looks like it does, it looks like a giant iPod touch, which is cool. Who doesn't want a giant iPod touch.

>> I don't.

>> You don't?

>> I do not want. Well, it's gonna destroy the Kindle, the book- reading app was fantastic. It was a bit heavier than I expected. I mean--

>> It's quite that big glass screen.

>> If you're gonna hold it and, you know, for a long [ unk ] time and read books.

>> Yeah.

>> I don't see there's a content creation device, but, you know, in terms of taking in, you know, [ unk ] and books.

>> Yeah.

>> It was great, you know, if you can afford it, if you could have it.

>> I don't wanna let the whole show go and buy over that mentioning my fan, or was that I have to call it, my air multiplier. You might notice something about it Peter.

>> It's bladeless.

>> It has no blades.

>> Uh- hmm.

>> It's a new fan from Dyson and I guess when you turn it on and it blows air much like a fan and yet there's no blade. I don't really-- I mean, these are just have a fan in the base and then it's blowing through--

>> Yeah, there's a little turbine over at the-- so it's not exactly bladeless. It's the sort of blades, interior blades.

>> Yeah.

>> Did you activate its swiveling power?

>> I didn't know-- I actually kind of like it because I'm gonna put it in my daughter's room and it's a fan and so what she cannot stick her little vulnerable fingers and--

>> Right.

>> have them cut off.

>> Which she can't do the Darth Vader voice, the Darth Vader voice. Didn't you ever stand in front of a fan and like talking to it?

>> It makes the Darth Vader voice?

>> You've-- wait, you've never talked into a fan?

>> No, I don't understand.

>> 'Cause we're into Rapture for a little bit. Yeah, so you beat BioShock 2?

>> Yes.

>> It's impressive man.

>> Were you harvesting or were you rescuing?

>> You know, without giving anything away, I think at this point everyone have purchased them or playing it. So there's-- it makes a bigger difference in this one whether you harvest or whether you rescue little sisters.

>> Really?

>> Yes, I think so 'cause when you get towards the end and you save who you were supposed to saved.

>> Uh- hmm.

>> She basically, so it was like, I was watching everything you're doing.

>> Uh- hmm.

>> Etcetera, etcetera. And then if you think about you're a big daddy so your relationships with little sisters are even more like it's a little bit stronger than it was in the last one.

>> Yeah.

>> Or you were some dude.

>> Right. You're bonded with the specific little sisters.

>> It's kind of a weird thing.

>> Yeah.

>> It's pretty hard. It's pretty hard. A couple of times I had that-- did I got that little prompt that says, you could change difficulty settings and options and I was like, " Screw you ."

>> You did not. There's no option. That doesn't happen.

>> Yeah, I got a little--

>> Did you really?

>> Yeah, 'cause I was having such a hard time with the second gather of Adam, I was getting killed so many times in a row. I was just, you know, it was like we're having-- gonna have mercy on you.
