## Transcript

High winds and heavy rain now battering [ UNKNOWN ] The city still struggling to recover from the fury of typhoon [ UNKNOWN ] which devastated this community a little more than a year ago. Evacuation centers have been accepting people from the vulnerable low line areas. For the last couple of days, that last estimate some 40, 000 people are seeking shelter in those evacuation centers. Private people are also opening up their homes to help those who haven't got to evacuation centers. Authorities are taking no chance this time around. Even though Typhoon Hagupit is not expected to hit with near the same force as Typhoon Haian, authorities have been clearing the low- lying areas, forcing evacuations in many cases, to get people away from the areas which could be the hardest hit.

At this stage, the authorities have done pretty everything they say they can do and they are now just riding out the storm with the rest of this population. The military is on the streets. Seen at least two armored personnel carriers patrolling in the last two hours. Food supplies have been flown in, along with other supplies, to deal with the aftermath of this storm. But [ UNKNOWN ] is a slow moving system, which means it will be several hours that the city has to endure, the echoes of what happened to them a little more than a year ago. The trauma is clear when you talk to people about their experiences, and they're hoping and they're praying that Hagupit will not deliver the same amount of devastation
