## Transcript

Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovych agreed to negotiate with opposition leaders as another round of anti- government clash has kicked off in Kiev, Sunday. Scores of demonstrators filed into Kiev's independent square to rally against anti- protest laws recently signed by Yanukovych. They banned Ukrainians from setting up tents, using sound equipment and wearing helmets and masks at rallies. Opposition leader and former world boxing champion, Vitali Klitschko tried to calm the crowd, Sunday, but was sprayed with a fire extinguisher by a protester. The fighting erupted as a group of demonstrators started heading toward Parliament.

Riot police used rubber bullets to keep people at bay. Demonstrators hurled amount of cocktails and rocks at the police in retaliation, before setting police vans and other vehicles on fire. The Moscow Times reports more than 200 people were injured in the fighting with protesters and police suffering injuries. Protestors have been demonstrating for months since Yanukovych rejected a highly anticipated trade pact with the European Union. Although Yanukovych has signaled his willingness to negotiate, the Washington Post notes, protestors were still collecting rocks and cobblestones, Monday, appearing to be gearing up for more fighting.

National Security Council spokeswoman, Caitlin Hayden, criticize the Ukrainian government in a statement, Sunday, for provoking protestors. The BBC reports, Yanukovych plans to set up a cross- party commission some time, Monday to try to resolve the crisis. For Time, I'm Christian Bryan.
