Family patriarch Phil Robertson was suspended this week for making anti- gay comments in an interview with GQ. >> Homophobia, all of it's built out of fear. If the person had said something about an interracial marriage, or said " we need to put all children with disabilities in institutions ," would we still be saying, " well, that's free speech, we're okay with that opinion ?" And I think the answer is no. >> Aiken said he thinks times have changed, and society is making progress, but that we still have a long way to go in terms of acceptance and understanding. Of course, Aiken famously came out in 2008. It's unclear what will happen next for Robertson and Duck Dynasty, but the family released a statement Thursday night saying they can't see the show go on without him. As for A & E, it's been a highly successful show for the network.
