## Transcript

Mother's Day is almost here, but you already knew that, right? How could you forget? Advertisers have been falling all over themselves to make you laugh, cry, or well mostly cry. I am who I am because of Of who she is and who she's been to me. And all that competition for your emotions is because Americans are expected to spend $ 21. 2 billion on Mom this year. That's according to a survey from the National Retail Federation, which found Americans plan to spend an average of about $ 172 each on Mothers Day. Up nearly ten dollars from last year. As always, greeting cards and flowers are the most common gifts people plan to send mom's way.

But, just spending time with her is still one of the best ways to celebrate. And, more than half the folks in the survey plan to take mom out to dinner or somewhere else fun. Although, a frankly, embarrassing number of those people will take the woman who raised them To Hooters. Maybe it's because Moms eat free on Mother's Day and children are cheapskates. But a whopping 35, 000 moms were treated to wings and other Hooters fare in 2013. We can't blame it on a lack of ideas, though, because nowadays even insurance can be Mother's Day themed. Or maybe coding classes. BrittonCo and GE teamed up to offer special Mother's Day electronic workshops, because as Samsung reminded us with its # text for mom campaign a lot of moms could stand to be a bit more tech savvy.
