[ MUSIC ] Hi my name's Ralf Reichert, I' [ m founder and CEO of ESL. And we're guests here right before the Olympic games and this is kind of a lead in tournament to showcase what E- sports is. Knows that the battle is coming and here she goes. [ UNKNOWN ] In most sports, being part of the Olympic is a dream for every athlete. Looking back, 2000, when we founded DSL, the reason was there was no infrastructure for the players. So we really wanted to build this stage web players can shine, where they can be celebrated as stars, And follow their passion. [ MUSIC ] I have to play Starcraft II, at least for five to eight to 15 hours a day, some times, just to prepare for the tournament.

And one single mistake can cost me a game or money or fame. [ MUSIC ] More and more people watching online tournaments and as much audience we have which coming closer to be on olympic games. 18 players remaining here on the world stage. [ MUSIC ] I think a lot of went to sports on their tradition and probably not because they are so popular as a spectator sport and the younger demographics is [ INAUDIBLE ] Has a very high penetration and some of the traditional sports are probably not growing in their demographic so to stay with the digital generations and the more digital world we are moving into, I think it's a total no blader.
