In a long form essay for New York Magazine, Baldwin writes, " If I offended anyone along the way, I do apologize. But the solution for me now is, I've lived this for 30 years. I'm done with it ." After of being accused of homophobia due to a heated exchange with a photographer late last year, the actor was fired for a news network MSNBC, where he hosted Up Late with Alec Baldwin. Baldwin says he blames MSNBC's Rachel Maddow for his firing. He goes on to say, " She doesn't have the same passion for the truth off camera that she seems to have on the air ." And the 30 Rock star insists he never used the anti- gay slur offering up evidence contrary to accusations of homophobia. " I am awash in gay people as colleagues and as friends. I'm not a homophobic person at all. But this is how the world now sees me ." The actor harkens back to a time where " New York used to be was a place that they gave you your unanimity. To be a New Yorker meant, you gave everybody five feet ." Baldwin says he'll find that unanimity elsewhere. He plans to move to Los Angeles where, " You leave behind a gate, you get in a car, your interaction with the public is minimal ." In all Baldwin's essay checks in at 5, 000 words touching on his hatred at the media and a surprising kinship he now feels with Shia LaBeouff, who's captured headlines with his odd antics recently.
