You've been in the public eye for decades. Won an America's Cup, created CNN and Turner Networks, owned the Atlanta Braves, was married to Jane Fonda, and was the vice chairman of Time Warner. I'm Josh Tyrangiel, I'm the managing editor of TIME. com. Ten questions, pretty simple. We get user-- reader and users many questions. We asked them. Let's start with Brent Perry from Singapore. Do you think that America will be able to maintain its position as a global economic leader with the current financial upheaval? >> Yes. >> What makes you so confident that America will be able to maintain-- >> I didn't say I was real confident. Yeah. We had a great [ unk ] money for thirty or forty years. But you can only go so long with letting be on your means. And that's what we've been doing. There's one right thing that we should absolutely do. First, foremost, with full speed, and that's convert our entire energy system over to clean, renewable energy. We need to be the cleanest and the greenest instead of the biggest polluters. >> Have you talked to Boone Pickens at all about his plans? >> I have talked-- have I talked to Boone Pickens? What do you think I am? Stupid? Never I was TIME's Man of the Year. I was the only TIME's Man of the Year to ever work at TIME, and they let me go. >> Again, that was not an editorial decision. >> No. It's absolutely what's in the magazine today. >> This is from Sofia, Bulgaria, from Kristina. " Would you agree that 24- hour breaking news has diminished the value of in- depth journalism ?" >> No. And I think it-- it let's people saw answers that they're-- answers that in-- in news, they all get the headlines on television and then, and go to print for depth of perspective. >> Why not try and buy that Cartoon Network or the Braves, or something like that? >> I really don't have enough money. I lost it all with everybody else right here, the Time Warner. We'd probably wanna hear you probably doing back flips for soda crackers. >> I don't even know what that means, but I-- I know that I'm-- this is from Henry Assen in Brussels. " Doesn't man's wealth truly bring peace of mind ?" And I guess we're talking in the past tense. But-- >> Well, when I-- when I did have and I gave-- I gave over half of it away. You know, I gave the billion dollars to the United Nations Foundation, and another half a billion to various other causes. You know, I-- I never worshipped the-- worshipped money. I started from middle class-- middle class family. I didn't finish college because I couldn't afford to. >> This is from Nadir in France. " Do you have any regrets about your marriage to Jane Fonda ?" >> No. >> What's your relationship like with Jane Fonda now? >> We're good friends. We talk to each other almost every week. >> And do you think about the past at all? I mean, you-- Yeah. And I saw you-- >> I think about it a little bit, but I've-- I've spent the great bulk of my time in the present and in the future. >> Kathy Popa in Tampa, " Are you involved with another romance or marriage currently ?" >> I'm not married. I'm dating, and I am having a pretty good time. >> Are you monogamous? >> I'm dating. >> Uh- huh. >> Let's open it up and see what people wanna talk about. >> You said you-- you wouldn't have done worse on the current management of Time Warner. What would you have done differently, and what would your advice-- >> I wasn't here, and nobody was paying me. You know, so, I was doing other things. Jerry said, " Your contract's gonna be up now, we're gonna give you another contract ." I said, " How much ?" He said, " A million dollars a year ." I said, " That's nice. Then, what are my duties ?" He said, " None ." I said, " You're gonna pay me a million dollars a year to do nothing ?" He said, " That's right ." I said, " You're letting people go there making $ 40, 000 a year ." They just went down [ unk ]. And I said, " You take your million dollars and shove it up your ass ." I said, " I'm not gonna take any money that I don't earn, that I don't work for. And to-- and you to offer me the shareholder's money to offer me a million dollars a year to do nothing when you're letting people go, how can you love a company like that, huh ?" I know the difference between right and wrong. And some of the people here did not. >> Since you have so much interest in renewable energy and in America, have you have any aspirations for political venues, or are you planning in getting into it? >> Seventy is a little--- I think 70 is a little old for president. So did the American people. We don't need another 70- year- old white man in the White House. But I did tell President Obama back when he was running at a fund raiser that I'll help him any way I could and not ask for anything in return. And he said, " You don't need anything in return ."
