## Transcript

>> Here at Freedom [ unk ] Headquarters. We've been phone- banking for targeted races around the country.

>> Freedom works as a conservative organization that has joined forces with the Tea Party Movement to help a lot of candidates.

>> I have a message, a message from the Tea Party, a message that is loud and clear and is not minced words. We've come to take our government back.

>> Let's pop in the champagne, man. Start with him.

>> Tea Party backed candidates, one senate seat in Florida and Pennsylvania. Later in the night, they received some news they've been waiting for.

>> Oh, yeah!

>> The GOP stripped the House of Representatives, one of the majority of [ unk ] and came close to knowing the gap in the Senate. But even though Tea Partyers have a lot to celebrate, they agreed that now, after the elections, is when the real work starts.

>> So, the new Congress gets sworn in. The top 3 issues don't have let the tax [ unk ]. Get the healthcare going in the opposite direction toward patient- centered healthcare and do serious [ unk ] out of the spending.

>> Tea Party activist often mention 1994 as a cautionary tale when the GOP controlled both the House and the Senate.

>> A lot of people elected these guys who said they're gonna reign in government. But for a couple of years, they did. Ultimately, they got to serve us, President Clinton and [ unk ] in the first ranks in Congress. But then, we sort of backed down and we thought, oh, President Bush said he'd be fiscally conservative. And the Congress said the same thing. Let's get them go do it. Soon as we backed down, the politicians in power got carried away and they disappointed us.

>> Dick Armey was the House Majority Leader at the time. Now, he's the chairman of Freedom Works and is still grappling with many of the same issues.

>> My recommendation with Speaker Boehner is put a straight up and down repeal of Obamacare on the floor. I'll guarantee you and you'll pass it with no less than 20 democrat votes and everyone of those democrat yes votes will come and thank you for the opportunity.

>> These activists say they're not loyal to party but to the principles that propelled this populous movement.

>> A lot of them are saying stuff that we like. Some of them were more sure about another but, ultimately, the day will come where they cast the votes and we're gonna keep track and we're gonna let their voters know exactly where they voted. And if they don't have- vote how we like, we're gonna be disappointed and we're gonna work against them.

>> In Washington, D. C ., this is Natasha Del Toro for TIME. com.
