Police reports filed after LaQuan McDonald's shooting shows that officers initially gave a version of events that don't appear to match up with dash cam video. Jason Van Dyk, the Chicago police officer accused of shooting the teenager 16 times, Told investigators McDonald was approaching him with a knife. Van **** said he was swinging the knife in an aggressive, exaggerated manner, and that he raised the knife across chest. Just hours before the dashcam video was released, prosecutors charged Van **** with first degree murder. The prosecutor who charged Van **** said McDonald was at least ten feet away, and made no aggressive movement toward police.

16 Shots! 16 Shots! 16 Shots! The video sparked a round of protests in the city with many, including elected officials, accusing the police department of actively trying to cover up the incident. I think that there was a cover up, and I think that people were looking out for their own skins. Police Superintendent Gary McCarthy has Since resigned, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel said the Chicago Police Department needs nothing less than complete and total reform.
