He, since leaving the Governor's mansion, has returned to movies, and I'm completely chuffed to say that he's here with us to discuss one of them. Right now, Mr. Schwarzenegger hello. Hello. The tag line of your new movie, The Last Stand, is that retirement is for sissy's, is that a tagline of your life as well? Well you know, you'll never see me retire, because I have a great time what I'm doing. Why would I all of a sudden say okay, I'm retired, I stopped did everything. And, sit back. Doesn't sound normal. So, you will never see me or hear me say that. [ NOISE ] How are you sheriff? Old. Eh, the movie has a lot of fun with the sheriff who is away who is sort of been retired and moved to a small town, and they're kind of making fun of the aging process. And I'm wondering how you were finding the ageing process. Well I think just like the character, you know he has a sense of humor about it. You are not as good in sports anymore as you were when you were 30. You, you, you make the effort, but you know that things are different. And, but you have to have a sense of humor about it because you know, to just dwell on it. Or to complain about, that your bones ache or your knees hurt or your back aches or something like that. Doesn't help you so you got to laugh about it. You've always been underestimated, you were underestimated when you were a body builder, people thought you could not get people to take that seriously. And then people were very surprised when you were elected Governor. Having won the respect of so many people, do, do movies still hold the same appeal, like do you not think that then that you would go back to being a movie star which is not, it's not such a serious thing to do? What if everything has to be serious that you do. I think that, that it was really a wonderful experience, kind of, a very challenging experience to be a public servant. And to give up all your money, your salary that you would have made. And, to get paid nothing and do work for seven years. For the people of California. I felt that it was worth every penny to give something back to this state. That's what I always wanted to do. And so it cost me just outta my pocket $ 43 million that I contributed to campaign funds and stuff van various different issues with one ballot, so you can imagine how much money it adds up after seven years. But I mean, it's, it's, it's, it was worth it. In the movie yeah, your, your character Ray is advising a young deputy and, and she says she's afraid of going to this big gun battle they're gonna have to go to and he says actually I'm more afraid than you are because I've been there before. And I wonder now that you've been Governor and you've been a movie star, and you've done you know, three really outstanding careers. Is there anything that you would be more afraid to do now, than when you did it the first time? I, that's not my style. If I would have been worried about failure, I would've never run for Governor, I would've never gone into the movie business, and said to Hollywood, look, I can do it. Of course I failed, many times. Movies went in the toilet, and acting was [ SOUND ] sometimes, and all those things. But then, eventually, I improved and I got my act together. And obviously, then, I got the Globe for Best Acting Debut. And the People's Choice Awards, and this award and that award all over the world. So you got to go through the failure in order to get success. I'm the person at Time Magazine that writes about marriage all the time. So I have to ask you one marriage question. The marriage stuff is always the same as the political scandals. It's never the act, itself, that. That is the problem it's always the cover up, and I wonder in your own instance since you were gracious enough to always have said that you would have rather stayed married, do you feel like you could have, you know, you would've liked to manage it differently? No that's a, it a, as soon as it came out I acknowledged it. There was no cover up. There was no trying to escape the, the issue. I faced up to it, and it was a mistake of mine. And, I had said that.
