[ SOUND ]. [ MUSIC ]. This " beef" by Impossible Foods is made completely from plants. The California start up wants to replace all animal based food products by 2035 .

>> The amount that we would need for humanity to survive Would be reduced by more than an order of magnitude if we just got animals out of the food system. And endless opportunities for restoration of natural ecosystems and wildlife habitat. We're not trying to attack the meat industry. We're not gonna tell people what to eat. We have to give them New choices and we have to make sure we make those choices so good that consumers will choose our products over the ones we get from animals. [ BLANK_AUDIO ] I think when the next Generation comes along, they won't say just it's a plant based or whatnot.

It's more like, it's in its own category. That you give it equal weight to your options, right? And I think that if it's able to give you the same satisfaction, in terms of meatiness, juiciness, that fat, that guilt, and when it's able to do that, wouldn't you want a more sustainable source? [ MUSIC ] So we won't be able to sell our products at street food prices today. But as we're scaling up, our cost of production go down, we can charge less to our customers And it's completely doable because the way that we're producing our foods is so much better, less expensive, than producing and using animals.

Is our technology going to have a role in interplanetary colonization? Absolutely, it's going to make it unnecessary. No one should ever want to go to Mars. There's no air on Mars. Mars. The impact we are going to have is make it unneccessary to go to Mars by saving this planet and keeping it profitable.
