But for one soldier lying in the hospital, the feelings were far less clear. Yaacov Rotblit was wounded during the battle for Jerusalem. He had his leg blown off. He had seen the Jordanian soldier little older than a child lying dead in the rubble. Rotblit wrote the song of piece, an anthem of the Israeli Peace Movement. The late Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin had the lyrics of Rotblit's song in his pocket and then he was shot dead by a Jewish Extremist. And some Israeli's including Rotblit saw the death of Rabin as a foreshadowing the breakup of peace between Israelis and the Palestinians. >> What the feeling was like on the 7th day after the 6th day of war? >> It was a bit different. I was in hospital. I was wounded in a battle overhand in some neighboring town and I lost my leg. So I was dancing on [ unk ], you know. I like people who were dancing [ unk ]. And after I came out of the hospital, [ unk ] it was a bit [ unk ]. >> The six- day war between the Arabs and the Israelis was the turning point in the history of the Middle East. Israel might have achieved a crushing victory on the battlefield but it hasn't brought the Israelis any closer to a last joined peace and especially with the Palestinians. Nor has it helped that the Israelis have kept expanding settlements inside the occupied territories and the Palestinians have fought back with suicide bombings against the Israel Republic. >> With the Palestinians really missed the chance with Arafat talks with [ unk ]. It's clear that Arafat came through [ unk ] David not to solve with 67 work problem but the [ unk ] problem which deepened widely and he missed it because he never wanted two countries-- two states with two nations. He really wanted to go out. >> In 2002, during the second [ unk ] the Israeli government abandoned the idea of ever living together with the Palestinians. Instead, the Israelis decided to separate their country from the Palestinians by building giant concrete walls and fences.
