## Transcript

Facebook is yet again making a change to it's products and services. And this one might be the most anger inducing yet. The company is removing access to messages from the Facebook app thereby forcing users to download it's messenger app to access messages. Tech crunch notes this was bound to happen sooner or later. Back in April the Outler reported Facebook had forced some of it's European users to switch to messenger. The social media company told Tech Crunch the move is motivated by usage. With two hundred millions users on messenger sending. Twelve billion messages a day, Facebook wants to unify its efforts around the app.

Facebook says the app will prompt you to download messenger before completely blocking access in the Facebook app and if you're running Facebook on something other than an iPhone or an Android phone, you're in luck. The message split isn't happening. Well, yet. If some of these reviews are any indication users aren't too happy with the forced switch. The Google Play store has quite a few one star reviews for Facebook Messenger with users commenting, not happy, and, did not want this app, and, another thing that is going to kill my battery. A writer for the next web seemed to be one of the few who sided with Facebook on the decision, writing.

If you just need to shoot out a quick reply, you shouldn't have to load your entire News Feed. So, do people do more status updating or messaging? It'll be interesting to see how the Messenger migration affects usage of the main Facebook app.
