## Transcript

>> He made a career with the saying, Even Science of almost every tweet now with it. Live long and prosper. Now, actor Leonard Nimoy, who of course played Star Trek's Spock, wants others to do the same with the announcement he has lung disease from smoking.

>> That he has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease from his days as a smoker. Nimoy tweeting, " I quit smoking 30 years ago. Not soon enough. I have COPD. Grandpa says, quit now ."

>> As PEOPLE noted, Nimoy never specified what kind of COPD he has, meaning he could be suffering from emphysema, chronic bronchitis, or non- reversible asthma among other diseases. That hasn't kept the 82- year old actor from speaking out to his more than 800, 000 Twitter followers. Besides the tweet announcing his disease, Nimoy also tweeted, " Smokers, please understand. If you quit after you're diagnosed with lung damage, it's too late. Grandpa says, learn my lesson. Quit now. LLAP ." meaning, Live Long And Prosper. Nimoy made headlines last month when he was spotted in a wheelchair at a New York airport.

He also wore a breathing apparatus at one point. Nimoy has since tweeted that, he's doing okay but he can't walk distances. He wrote, he loved his life, family, friends and followers. We wish you the best Mr. Spock. Anything else would of course be a logical. I'm Cliff Judy.
