## Transcript

So I was working for a spirits company which got acquired by a French company and they laid a bunch of us off and a short while after that is when I really just decided to live authentically and be an entrepreneur and plant my flag in the ground. So that was what ultimately led to me creating Wee Montague. My name's James Oliver Jr ., and I'm the founder and CEO of Wemontage. Wemontage. com is the world's only website that will let you turn your pictures into a large, custom collage on premium, removable wallpaper. It's very affordable, and our customers just love the product. So initially I had to have a prototype of the website built.

Fortunately, I was able to partner up with a guy who had relationships with an agency. So from there I was able to get into a tech start up accelerator. And I got a call from an investor, an angel group saying they wanted to fill my entire round, which I was looking to raise $ 250, 000 at the time. So I was incredibly fortunate. [ MUSIC ] Bumps in the road along the way? Of course. I was out of cash. I spent my last $ 35, 000 in savings. The prototype was only supposed to take three months to build. It took a year. My wife was pregnant with our twins. And we went in for a routine Ultrasound and we realized there was some problems with my son's placenta and blood flow, and we had to remove the twins at 29 weeks gestation.

The kids were born they weighed two pounds each. If that weren't hard enough the next day is when I was supposed to report to the tech start- up accelerator. Which is two hours away by car and I knew that if I didn't go to the accelerator most likely we montage wasn't gonna happen but my wife was the one who looked me square in the eye and told me to get my **** down to Madison to rock out the accelerator because the family needs we montage to be successful. The three months when I was away at the Accelerator and the kids were in the NICU, those were some of the hardest times in my life. I was back home on the weekends and spent the whole time in the NICU with the kids with my wife, and it was hard.

But somehow, just through sheer grit and persistence, I got through it all. We launched the product and raised the capital. I like it. [ MUSIC ] My advice for someone who's looking to start a second act or change careers or start a start- up, one is to make sure that you're 100 % committed. So, the idea, because, when things get hard, and things will get hard. I promise you that. If you don't have the persistence and grit to see it through. it's gonna be way too easy to quit. Second is, if you're married or in a serious relationship, you have to have a supportive spouse or partner. My vision for Wemontage is that it will be as common as picture frames.

And also that we'll be able to sell this business for 50 million dollars. That's my vision and I'm sticking with it. Yeah [ MUSIC ]
