He's unashamedly obsessed with Greyhound and has ridden it extensively in the US. So the recent launch of Greyhounds UK would've probably pleased him more than anyone else. >> Ever since the very small Matchbox Greyhound model that come out, out here in England I guess since those days, you know, my grand enthusiasm has grown ever since and as of today I had my own Greyhound Scenicruiser Coach which at the moment is still in America but about to bring it over. >> Founded in 1914, Greyhound is the largest provider of intercity bus transportation in North America traveling to over 2300 destinations with 13, 000 daily departures serving nearly 25 million passengers every year. It's undeniably an American institution and it's not only Roy who's excited about Greyhound's prospects overseas. >> Well, Greyhound is an iconic brand and it's being very successful for almost 100 years now and we wanted to replicate that success over the UK. I mean Roy is a real character and when I met Roy I thought wow. I say amazing really because what's great to have Roy with us today is that he's just so passionate about the Greyhound brand. I don't think there is anyone more passionate about Greyhound in the States than Roy and it's great. I mean he's got the coach over in the USA. He's hoping to bring it over to the UK. So it's brilliant to have someone so in love with the Greyhound brand, and I'm sure he's very excited about the fact that it's in the UK that I know he is. >> As far as I'm aware this chap called Carl Wickman started out in around about 1914 to transport miners from one town to the mine shaft if you like in Hibbing, Minnesota. These buses used to run like dogs between the 2 towns if you like. So you can now imagine how the Greyhound name came about. >> And it was on a family holiday to the US when fate steps in and set Roy on the road to buying his very own bus. >> I went out to Arcadia in Florida but it's something there. It was converted ground coach, the very type that I had as a kid. I guess what I wanna do is just sit on mine and enjoy the environment that you're on, you know. Just feel how many people, you know, the amount of miles that this vehicle had done and it's just the scene and you know and then the guy said this not for sale or is an idiot. Don't say that to me. And that just started my mind working overtime. Forget about Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. The Greyhound Scenicruiser was on my mind in September. It was halfway across the Atlantic and that's when I told my wife that I brought it, went half broke for setting that in. So it's either divorce time or should you rather with me and then sure enough she rode with me and this is the type of great coach that I got. This is a Greyhound Scenicruiser, 954 miles and give me a few more months. This is what it's gonna look like when it comes back here. It's the only Greyhound coach in the UK.
