It's AT & T's first 4G phone. 4G means fast, right? It runs Android. It only costs a $ 100 bucks. What could possibly go wrong? The phone itself has a lot going for, it's well designed inside now, with HTC's custom sense interface co- mingling with Android in a way that actually serves to enhance the overall experience. Phone is housed in aluminum backing, and the big 4. 3- inch screen features 800 by 480 resolution, and bright vibrant colors. There's 1- gigahertz processor under the hood, and 768- megabytes of RAM, which gives everything a slick snappy feeling. Web pages load up quickly over Wi- Fi, and the browser handles flash video files with ease. The 8- megapixel camera takes great photos, and high definition videos providing you've got ample light. But low light situations tend to degrade the quality substantially. That's not uncommon with most Smartphones though. All in all, there's a lot of bang for the buck here, especially at a $ 99 price point. The Inspire 4G stumbles in two main areas, for starters, the battery life leads a bit to be desired, especially if you use the phone for more than a moderate amount each day. The bigger issue though is that, right now, AT & T's 4G data connection doesn't seem to be exponentially faster than its 3G connection. However, marketing on AT & T's site does say that 4G speed will be available on limited areas, with availability increasing with ongoing back hold- up lines. So, in plain English, it'll probably get faster. So, as an Android phone, HTC Inspire 4G is a great little device. It's the best Android phone on AT & T, and it only cost a $ 100 bucks. That is an incredible price, for a phone like this. But it's not a great 4G phone yet. Don't buy and thinking you're gonna use it as a Wi- Fi hotspot to connect it with your laptop, and get some great work when you're on the train. The 4G network, at least in this area, it's just not at the party yet. It might get better. It might be good to future proof yourself, in a $ 99 bucks, you can't really go wrong. But I can add 4G's to the end of my name. And it would look really cool. But you'd still pronounce it, Doug. And it's still kind of a weird name.
