[ MUSIC ] It's been quite the year for Tiger Woods, for a career built on unprecedented stretches of success, the last nine months have truly been remarkable for the athlete and golf. Often considered one of the greatest athletes of all time, there's no story quite like his. What's first made headlines appearing on ABC's That's Incredible, as a five year old golf prodigy. And when it was time to turn pro, it took him less than a year to clinch his spot as the number one golfer in the world in 1997. He's mastered 79 wins on the- PGA Tour over the course of his career, but personal turmoil and mounting injuries have taken a toll on the legend.

Since the 2008 US Open, he's overcome a broken leg, knee operations, a marital breakup, sex addiction treatment, four Four back surgeries and on and off comeback efforts that have been cut short due to back pain before a lastage fusion procedure in April of 2017. Critics thought he was done. This is Tiger's fourth back surgery in four years. So basically, don't look for Tiger to play anytime soon. The next press release, Tiger Wood should release should be on retiring. Even Woods himself was unsure of what his future on the course would be, saying this at the 2017 Presidents Cup. I don't know what my golfing body is gonna be like?

Because I haven't hit a golf shot yet. And so, that's gonna take time to figure that out, and figure out what my capabilities are going forward. But the risk paid off. With a newly fused back, Woods' swing motion resembles movements from his heyday. I don't know of anyone who's had a lower back fusion that can swing the club as fast as I can swing it. That's incredible. I went from a person that's been I had really hard time getting up, walking around, sitting down, anything to now swinging the club. We saw it [ UNKNOWN ] 129. That is a miracle in it. Woods has played 14 events so far and his performance has been impressive.

It's even more remarkable considering the amount of strain his body has experiences to date And from his successes at the Honda Classic and the Valspar tournament where he tied for second place, just one shot behind winner, Paul Casey. We see a Tiger Woods capable of winning PGA tournaments again. Now, three years later, Tiger is returning to the PGA Championship for its 100th anniversary. Vegas puts his odds of winning at 20 to one but that hasn't kept fans from rooting for the legend to win his first Major in almost ten years. PGA is excited, too. Tiger is expected to tee up against a new crop of golf all stars including Rory McIlroy and defending champ Dustin Johnson.

Things go well in St Louis and for the rest of the season, there's a good chance Captain Jim Furyk uses a captain's pick to get him on the Ryder Cup team. The golfing world, even competitors, are hoping he can pull a comeback worthy of his legacy. The green's just not the same without you, Tiger.
