## Transcript

The Missouri State Fair showcases the best of what the agricultural community in the state has to offer but there's sort of a political side show this year that fair officials say is not what they're about. Let him go, let him go, let him go, go, go. Give me the money, give me the money. There's something to see everywhere you turn at the fair grounds. [ MUSIC ] But it's one image from the Missouri Rodeo Cowboy Association. MRCA rodeo finals last night that's stirring up outrage today. We just had a tramendous fare and everything was going great and. And it takes one idiot to, to do something like that.

It's just very disappointing. This photo went viral on social media today. Showing a rodeo clown dressed up in a mask of President Obama. The rodeo attendee who reportedly posted it said that an announcer called out to the crowd. Asking if anyone wanted to see Obama run down by a bull. Before one charged the clown. It sparked a firestorm of tweets and statements. From Senator Claire McCaskill saying it's shameful and unacceptable. To the Jackson County Democratic Committee calling it a show as ugly as any you could see. I understand people's concerns I don't think anyone is any more disappointed in what happened last night than we are, we take that very seriously.

The fair contracted out those rodeo workers through the MRCA. That organization issued its own statement today saying quote, the act was not scripted, and they did not know about it. The MRCA does not and will not allow for the rodeo to become a political platform. There will be swift disciplinary action. The state fair is mostly self sufficient but does receive close to half a million dollars in public funding and there were calls today on social media to cut that funding out. But the fair's director stresses, it was one independent act that they couldn't have stopped and would never condone.

You know, we hold them accountable. And and we certainly hold this this person accountable for, for their actions. And you know, we're gonna, he, he will not be out here again. I promise you that. In Vidalia, Alice Barr KCTV5 news.
