## Transcript

Hi, I'm Doug, I'm a tom. com Technology Editor, and here's what happened in tech this week. A woman in South Carolina was duped into spending $ 180 on a plank of wood disguised as an iPad. She bought the item in a McDonald's parking lot, which means now is the perfect time to go over some tips for buying things in and around McDonald's. If it's food and you buy it from someone behind the counter then there's no need to unwrap it and check it first. If it's food you and you buy if from anyone else go ahead and check it first. If it's not food and you buy it from anyone. McDonalds employee or not.

Always check it first. You know maybe check the behind the counter food just to be safe. Artificial intelligence has come a long way but what happens when you pair two check bots together for a conversation of their own? A team from Cornell University decided to find out. I'm not a robot. I'm a unicorn. But you said earlier that you were a robot. I did not. I thought you did. Jeez, get a dry, dust free room you two. Now can't you see that you're in love? A funeral home in Florida became the first to install a full body liquid cremation machine called the Resomator. The machine can dissolve a corpse in about two and a half hours and the resulting liquid can be safely disposed of in the city's water system.

Or I don't know put in little boxes with pokey straws and used to placate zombies during the impending apocalypse. Zombie juice. My idea patent pending. The justice department filed an anti- trust complaint against AT & T in the hopes of blocking the $ 39 billion AT & T mobile merger. AT & T says it'll fight the case and that it's surprised and disappointed by the action. Not mad. Disappointed. Sometimes that's worse than mad, DOJ. Sometimes that's worse. And finally, CNET. com reported that yet another secret iPhone prototype was left behind in yet another California bar. Authorities traced the phone to a home in San Francisco, searched the place and found nothing.

The 20 year old man at the home denied having knowledge of the device yet admitted to being at the bar where the phone was lost. If I may, Apple. Have you considered having the tracking software alert you any time one these secret phones gets within say 25 feet of a bar. Then you could call the engineer who has that phone and be like hi there. Hey. Just a quick reminder about our no secret IPhones in bars policy. Yeah. Tenant's had trouble with that in the past. [ LAUGH ] His high notes. One person ruins it for everyone else, but you know, it is called the Powell Rule now, and you do not want a rule named after you here.

That is, that is frowned upon. So. I'm Doug Amant. Check out all those stories and much, much, much, much more on Tech Land.
