## Transcript

Authorities in Kansas City have arrested a suspect in connection to a string of highway shootings around the area. Kansas City police raided a Grandview home Thursday and announced later that afternoon, they had made an arrest. Here you can see footage of the suspect being taken into police headquarters. Authorities say tips from the public helped them to hone in on the suspect. Police Chief Darryl Forte declined to name the suspect. And said details of the man will not be made available until he has officially been charged. He also did not confirm if the department was looking for any additional suspects.

After the suspect was detained, authorities turned their attention to his vehicle. A dark green Dodge Neon which matches the description provided by several victims of the shootings. The arrest comes a week after local and federal authorities announced they had linked 12 shootings targeting vehicles on Kansas City's highways. Three people were struck in those shootings, however, none of the injuries were reported to be life threatening. While the Kansas City Star didn't name the victims, it quoted one as saying, I'll be pleased as punch if it is the person. And another who said, he deserves everything he gets.

There have been as many as 20 shootings reported on highways surrounding Kansas City since early March; many of them taking place in a southern area of the city known as the Grandview Triangle, which connects several interstates. Investigators have 48 hours to bring charges against the suspect in custody, otherwise he will be free to leave. Police have scheduled a press conference Friday to provide updates on the investigation. I'm Cliff Judy.
