## Transcript

>> Miley Cyrus says she can actually be happy now that she is single. The singer sat down with Barbara Walters for Walters' 10 Most Fascinating People of 2013 special and admitted her engagement to Liam Hemsworth while fun, wasn't meant to be.

>> I was so scared of ever being alone and I think conquering that fear this year was actually bigger than any other transition that I had this entire year.

>> Cyrus and Hemsworth broke off their 16- month engagement in September and Cyrus has been relatively tight lipped about the split until now. Hemsworth got candid about the breakup back in November while promoting The Hunger Games Catching Fire. For a few years, I went down a path where I forgot to be in the moment and enjoyed the moment. But being around someone like co- star Jennifer Lawrence who is so honest and laughs all day long, I am forced to be in the right now, I am much happier. Of course just because Miley is enjoying some alone time, it does not mean she is staying silent. The singer has of course been quite the controversial figure over the last year from her raunchy MTV Music Awards performance, to her nearly nude music video.

Add to that, the pics she has been posting online and it seems like Cyrus cannot stay out of the spotlight. But hey, how else are you gonna land on Barbara Walters' 10 Most Fascinating People List? Cyrus joins Hemsworth's Hunger Games co- star Jennifer Lawrence, the cast of Duck Dynasty, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West and even the royal baby on the annual special set to air December 18.
