## Transcript

The director of the X- Men movie series has been accused of sexually abusing a teen 15 years ago. 48 year old Brian Singer is accused of sexually abusing a 17 year old teenager in the late 1990s. The alleged victim says the abuse happened at parties right here in California and in Hawaii. According to a federal lawsuit filed in Hawaii Wednesday, Singer allegedly offered the plaintiff Michael F Egan III A role in the Marvel Comics franchise if he fulfilled his sexual demands. And the successful director apparently threatened to ruin is career if the team didn't comply. The Hollywood Reporter obtained a copy of the lawsuit.

The documents claim Singer manipulated his power, wealth and position in the entertainment industry to sexually abuse and exploit the underage plaintiff through the use of drugs, alcohol, threats, and inducements. The lawsuit also alleges that Singer was one of a group of powerful men in Hollywood, who maintained and exploited boys in his sordid sex ring. According to the documents, most of the alleged sexual abuse took place in 1998 and 1999, at parties at a California mansion. Egan was reportedly only 17 at that time. And Ryder reports Singer also allegedly provided Egan with drugs and alcohol and flew him to Hawaii on several occasions where the plaintiff says Singer continued to abuse him.

Singer's attorneys told reporters these accusations are completely without merit and accused Egan of trying to get some publicity just weeks before X- Men, Days of Future Past is set to hit theaters. But Egan's lawyer told the Hollywood reporter this case is part of the bigger issue. Hollywood has a problem with the sexual exploitation of children. This is the first of many cases I will be filing to give these victims a voice and to expose this issue. The law suit demands an unspecified amount of money for intentional emotional distress battery, assault and invasion of privacy by unreasonable intrusion.

Singer, who has directed several other hit films including 1995's, The Usual Suspects and Superman Returns, has yet to comment on the situation. Thanks for watching. I'm Christian Bryant.
