## Transcript

There's a new champion in the world of toys. Perhaps ironically the biggest moneymaker revenue and profit- wise isn't a pricey doll or elaborate gaming system, it's the box of bricks that allows you to be as conformative or as creative as you want. And it's not hard to see why the tiny bricks went big. Yes! Overpriced coffee. That's $ 37. Whoa, awesome! The Lego movie grossed nearly $ 470 millions worldwide. But as the Wall Street Journal points out, it's the products coming out of the movie, that boosted Lego revenue, by 11 %, to just more than $ 2 billion in the first half of 2014. Lego brought in more money than mat.

Mattel, the maker of Barbie and Fisher- Price toys. As Time noted in February, Lego sales continued to rise while others like Mattel have slumped. It's performed well in China, and the products are just as often on our TV screens as our living room floors. Lego seemingly has a video game for every major movie franchise from The Hobbit to Star Wars [ MUSIC ] [ NOISE ] As Lego CFO told the journal, kids don't make the distinction between the digital and the nondigital like those of us who weren't brought up in the digital age. For them it's all just one experience. And you didn't expect them to just take the money and run, did you?

The company quickly planned a Lego movie sequel schedule for release in tw 2017. And just last month announced another two movies further in the future.
