[ MUSIC ] I'm here with Jane Bryant Quinn, legendary personal finance expert, and bestselling author. We're here to talk about her latest book. We talked about baby boomers. How do you think the first wave is fairing in retirement, now that we've seen the first group kind of well into retirement? Male first, they are working later, which is one thing that would be logical. They are much more active. And I think the baby boomers are doing pretty well. Now, there are a lot of angst with some of the younger generations when you're talking about gen x and millennials about retirement How do you think they'll fare?

They're still years away from it but there's a lot of worry. There is some evidence that millennials and gen x's are saving a little more, they're more aware of retirement. I would like to see, coming up for this generation some sort of automatic savings plans taken out of their paycheck the same way a 401 ( k ) is For everybody if you're living in the gig economy if you're doing hair and make up which very fortunately I had before I came on. [ LAUGH ]. You don't have somebody automatically taking money out of your pay check it becomes very difficult to save. And I think that this is a huge national need to create the equivalent of a 401k For people who are working everywhere this is the big thing that needs to be changed and I think it will be changed because I think this millenial generation will get sick of it saying why should I not be able to save easily just because I'm working for myself instead of for another company and that's just wrong.

Well it's good to hear some good news on retirement.
