## Transcript

>> Hello from Northern California. We've got a fun camera today that says digital single lens reflex camera from Nikon. It's the D- 90, and it's got interchangeable lenses like any other single lens reflex camera, but what's cool about the D- 90 is it's the first digital single lens reflex camera that allows you to shoot high definition video.

>> The D- 90 has a whole raft of really cool features that you tend to find on very high end cameras, but it's really--

>> Mike, can I get you some pictures?

>> Yeah yeah, go ahead, go ahead. Oh, so it's got a lot of other really cool features that you can only find on high end cameras. One of the remarkable things about the D- 90 is that you can shoot through any series of lenses that you have. You got a wide angle lens, a fish- eye lens, a telephoto lens; anything that fits on a Nikon camera will fit in the D- 90. So you can actually shoot video through that. There are some things you need to be wary of, of course. This is not really a replacement for a full- on, high definition video camera. This is really something that you can use to shoot like a little sporting event; kids running around the soccer field.

It's not for shooting the entire school play. It can only go for about five minutes before the image sensor overheats and it doesn't record high fidelity audio the way a real top- notch high def camera would do and shoot it. It records a- mano. Like other high end cameras, this one has a, what I call, or what lot of people call a PhD mode for push here dummy. You can just set it up to automatically take pictures. It's got this amazing auto- focus feature that looks at many different kinds of grids and it finds absolutely the best focus point for the camera. Of course you can uncouple that and shoot it in manual mode or you can isolate the F- stop or the shutter speed if that is what you want to do.

Another thing that you need to be wary of when you are shooting video on the camera is it doesn't do auto focus, so that when you're shooting, if somebody is running toward you or away from you, you are gonna have to manually focus that. The thing I really want to stress here is this is like a professional- grade camera. I mean, this camera right here, with this lens that comes with it is $ 1299, the kit that Nikon sells. It's $ 999 without the lens, and you are gonna be able to shoot like a professional. Friends of mine who are professionals think that this camera is way, way, way better than the things that they bought that were state of the art just a few years ago.

>> So whether you're on safari in Africa, or just fantasizing about it, the D- 90 really does the job.
