Just in time for the holidays Google has released its list of the best apps of 2014. The comprehensive list has got apps in just about every category you'd need. It's also pretty hefty with a total of 75 apps. Those looking to get productive are pointed to apps like the list making wonder list app and the much praised sunrise calendar. Wonder list is one of the only apps on this years list which also appeared on Google's smaller 2013 list. Those looking to learn a language have the Duolingo Test Center, a language app that allows users to become certified in the English language, using their phone or tablet.

It's free until it's out of beta. Then it'll cost $ 20 dollars. The app is an offshoot of Duolingo, a completely free app that made last year's list, and allows users to teach themselves nine different languages with the help of other people. Conveniently enough, another app on Google's list allows you to watch Duolingo's founder give a 2011 TED talk. [ MUSIC ] Explaining why he created the app. It's no surprise the TED app made it on Google's list. It allows users to watch hundreds of the educational talks. The music apps are split between streaming staples such as Pandora or IHeartRadio. An audio customization app.

Interestingly enough, Spotify is not included. There's a host of social apps as well, including the semi controversial Secret app a favorite of Silicon Valley gossipers that want to remain anonymous [ MUSIC ] Uber, who has suffered its fair share of bad PR in the past few weeks, managed to beat out other ride sharing apps such as Lyft. The only Google- owned app to make the list was the tech giant's fitness app, Google Fit. The health- tracking app was released earlier this year and appeared to be Google's answer to the recent health tracking craze that's sweeping the tech world. For all the mostly recognizable apps on the list, there are some more obscure ones, such as 5by.

A video curation app that was bought by StumbleUpon last year and recently relaunched in October. While you may have noticed there are no games on the list, don't worry. Google will likely do a repeat of last year and leave game ranking to the people in another Player's Choice poll.
