## Transcript

I remember going into the studio with the guys, and what happened is the night before I was reflecting on like my life, and my journey and, you know I'm like, I just live a [ INAUDIBLE ] baby. I'm a bad mother, you know. And I was really thinking about everything I had been through. And so, when I went into the studio, I felt like screaming it out. [ MUSIC ] Bad one. I'm a bad. Like I really felt like screaming out, and pushing, it was like on my chest, like I was just thinking about everything that I've been through in life, and I'm like, I'm really proud of my journey. I will curse in my songs versus really saying it in person, it's really weird.

Like you know I don't feel as bad singing out. I don't know, it's something about music where I just feel like I can just be free and I think that's a good thing about music because it allows you to just like be free. [ NOISE ] [ MUSIC ] I'm very expressive these days and I do believe that after having my son, being a mom you gotta have a clear voice. You can't be out here like not sure of whatever decision Did you want to make. What I learned over time, I was also very private person. Is it that sometimes when you don't speak, the message really gets lost. And then it's like, you know what, if you're going to say something, people are going to twist on how they want to twist it anyways.

So say what you feel, and then you know you done that, and then you feel good about that. And you let life keep going. And that's a really good feeling from me because- I can go to sleep resting my head comfortably knowing that I said what I felt, I meant what I said. I'm kinda like take me as I am or leave me, it doesn't matter, I'm good with me. [ MUSIC ] This industry has changed tremendously. This was my first album. I actually remember when the ringtones started coming in. I was like, when I released One, Two, Step. And and that was a very game changing era for music because it also impacted the positioning of your record on a chart and You know it's definitely amazing to see how things have changed over time.

[ MUSIC ] I think it's all about timing, you know. The Jackie era which is the title of my album, it really marks a special time of my life. I'm really am a full blown one woman army, okay? But it's one of those songs that speaks true to, my soul. And where I stand as a woman. You know, I have had my journey and I do need a soldier to stand by my side too. You know, so it just kind of told my story exactly how I wanted to tell it. So yeah, it was perfect timing. [ MUSIC ]
