## Transcript

In South Mumbai, residents of the Colaba neighborhood are still trying to cope with last week's terrorist attacks.

>> We have a lot of tourist here, a lot of locals. I think Colaba culture was just a mix of different-- different races, communities and everything.

>> See, all our lives we've had this all the way from town. We're from town like we live in the best side of Mumbai.

>> Colaba is an area, which we've grown up and we go to the Taj all the time.

>> We could have been in Leo's. We could have been anywhere. Like watching it on TV are like, you could just recognize every single place. This was not some random gulley somewhere, you know, and during the gunshots and are near in my house that I was like Colaba has become a war zone.

>> I ran down from my office and by them [ unk ] that and we realized that somebody's firing from the manholes and then we tried to enter the hallway. { unk ] and we said [ unk ] take care of this, with these fightings this way, but when we tried to enter, again, a shot came on to the one of the [ unk ] who was with me and he got a bullet in his leg. So, we all run behind again and as we were running a grenade was load on us. It was like we are a part of the commando unit. A load of bullets were flying. We were doing all kind of [ unk ] in the-- like you does in the war zone, you know. In fact I have gone to the extent of taking the first aid kit for the commando who was hit on the terrace and I went up and I delivered that.

I wore a bulletproof jacket also when I did the work and I'm very thankful to the NSG people who put the confidence in me that I was capable of doing it. [ unk ] happened in Mumbai, bombed last two place in Mumbai. Whatever is happening everywhere else, it never, never, ever happened to [ unk ]. Even [ unk ] were taking place, Hindus and Muslims were guarding the area together. The feeling of patriot is very high.

>> I nearly cried. Most people like cried for Taj Mahal Hotel.

>> In 1903 during the British Raj, the Indian industrialist Tata built the Taj Mahal Palace, some say in protest against the Watson Hotel. The British who owned the hotel had a sign stating no Indians or dogs allowed. Since, the Taj Hotel has remained a symbol of a thriving India.

>> I was here with my parents just since Saturday. It looked beautiful from far in the sea and it was just so beautiful and I just can't imagine just a few days later you're there and, you know, this happens on Wednesday. It's really sad.

>> I actually used to say when I used to be with my friends inside the lobby that this is my dad's property. It wasn't. We just say this because we still love this place. It's got a vibe which is unlike any other five-- it's not a five- star hotel to me because it's always winner. It's a place that signifies the city.

>> We love Taj. We love the gateway and we will always be around here, you know, it's like-- it's a sunshine of our life, you know.

>> Although most Mumbai residents might not be able to afford a room at the Taj Hotel, local businessmen like this one feared that the seizure of Colaba will affect them all adversely. [ Foreign language ] He says mostly Colaba is a tourist area and now a tourist will be afraid to come. We will all lose our money.

>> Colaba business is going in [ unk ] because of the tourist in India are not coming or they're canceling their bookings and all, which ever that mean. No one is coming like they're very scared to come here.

>> Only five days after the attack, the Leopold Cafe has reopened and it seems like business is usual.

>> I reside here at Colaba. This is like five minutes away from here and this is a famous cafe, Leopold Cafe. Since foreigners visit this place, it's like a good hangout, good ambiance, good food and the good part is the alcohol. As you can see the famous tower of beer, which is like sold only out here in Leopold, no where else. Life goes on, you got to.

>> You just can't sit down thinking about what happened was bad.

>> The citizens come to Leopold [ unk ] early yesterday. We just decided it was best to come here rather than avoid it.

>> I think you know the terrorist attacks are very much in evidence in the cafe, just over here, there are some bullet marks. There are some bullet marks in the wood work and lots pieces of evidence. The spirit, the people, the busyness of the place, the vibrancy of it all, just takes away any uneasiness that you might be feeling.

>> But I'm really tired of this particular cliché, which says that, you know, Mumbai cultures bounce back and move on and I think that's really unfair. Because, you know, life goes on in every city and every part of the world but it's really not fair what happened.

>> I mean we-- I think we should get over it but I don't know. We don't think it's really over or whatever. They're saying jubilation and it's done. I don't know. They can easily come in again or they could be-- I don't know. I don't think its --.

>> They could still be in out city. We're not, you know, we don't know. Because they look like normal boys and, you know, like my brother would pass off as one of them as well. So, you don't-- you never know who is really a terrorist.

>> We're looking at everyone. Everyone we're like--

>> Judging people now, yeah.

>> This time I think we are hurt. We are hurt very badly. They are hurt. I can't express it in words, but this time, even me I feel that the time has come for us to do something, that the we [ unk ] fighting our friends and that keep an observation to keep an eye for what's happening around.
